“Rhythm of the Little Sea”

Rhythm of the Little Sea “The Song”

I almost didn’t write this one. The idea that you need absolute stillness, quiet and to be left alone to allow your creativity to flow, has been completely smashed by the experience I had writing this song.

THE COMPOSITION

I wrote this song having come downstairs, whacked out and totally exhausted after putting four of my kids to bed. Rocking the fifth “my newborn” to sleep in her pram, I lay my head down on the kitchen counter to get five minutes sleep before I had to get up and clean the supper things away.

Drifting off to sleep, I started to tap out the rhythm of the rocking of the pram. Then, I grabbed my iPad and wrote down all of the lyrics and melody that came to me in one go. Two months prior to this, I sat at the same spot, and with a tired mind I tried to conjure up the lyrics to this song, but only snippets of ideas came, so I parked it.

I am only a Vessel

I had actually resolved not to write the song, because everything seemed stacked against me. However, this song chose me as the vessel! I hope you enjoy it and please share it.

Totally love that. It evokes the many memories I have of my childhood there. Running through fields and climbing over gates that took me to that very spot too. How many times too on my way there, I would stop to pick crab apples and blackberries. My dear Granny would have so enjoyed your song about this place that was very dear to her too.

Thank You Renee, yes Crab apples and Blackberries, the memories of warm summers and time that stood still. Seems like a different era now that technology has taken over…
